I was in Bisley, in June 2001 as the coach of the Army Cadet National Rifle Team. The focal point of that month long trip was the 'Imperial Meeting' hosted by the NRA (of Great Britain)
There was approximately 600 competitors at the Imperial Meeting. That number swelled even larger when the competition for the Queens Prize began late in the week.
My team of cadets stands with me for a photo on Stickledown range. Stickledown has firing points back to 1200 yards. (We only competed at 1000 yards and less.) One of the first things we did when we arrived in Bisley was a team walkabout to get used to the surrounding and establish our bearings. As range facilities go, Bisley is quite intricate.
Jesse Peterson poses with Century Range in the background. Century Range has firing points back to 600yds and 106 target frames. As you can see in the photo below they were not afraid to fire at multiple distances on the same range. They observe safety arcs and separate shooters by sufficient frontages to keep everyone safe. We were practicing at 500yards while others behind us, and off to one side, shot at 600yds.
